Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding in Oxford. The 35-year-old, who played Hermione Granger in the beloved film franchise, was driving 38mph in a 30mph zone on the evening of July 31 last year.
Watson was ordered to pay a total of £1,044 at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. The actress, who is now a student, did not attend the brief five-minute hearing.
Court hearing details
The court heard that Watson already had nine points on her driving licence before the speeding incident occurred. With the additional points from the Oxford speeding offence, she faced the automatic six-month disqualification.
The financial penalty of £1,044 was imposed alongside the driving ban. Watson's absence from the courtroom did not prevent the magistrates from proceeding with the case and issuing the sentence.
